Florida Gulf Coast University Literacy Festival
The Florida Gulf Coast University College of Education Annual Literacy Festival is the only university-sponsored literacy festival in the state of Florida. Every year it connects children's and young adult authors and illustrators with over 2000 students from regional Title I schools. The College of Education purchases participating authors’ books and distributes them regionally before the event. Every student receives a book! College of Education teacher candidates visit classrooms to study the participating authors and integrate their books into the curriculum across their disciplines.
